It's sometimes hard to tell in pictures, but I think those parking lights are the little bit larger variety. My '59 3B has them, at first glance one might not notice that they are larger. I figured someone on here would know what they are specific to as far as years or model.

Pictures of the front shackles might help narrow the years down, unless they were changed of course.

There was a thread here way-back-when from somebody who knew what they were talking about vis-a-vis front lights. IIRC there's like four different styles up to the 70's. I know what the first ones are like, I know what the '67+ are like. I know that in between there was the style illustrated here & there was the fourth style that were really small which, again IIRC, was late 50's to very early 60's.

There exist 3 distinct parking lamps (for CJ-5) prior to the notably larger parking lamps.

The initial design of CJ-5 parking lamps predates the model CJ-5.
The initial design of CJ-5 park lamps are mounted horizontally to the radiator guard (AKA grille)
The initial design of CJ-5 lamps have a stainless steel bezel and the bezel screws are positioned verticle.
These lamps were used on all CJ's from 1953 through 1957.

The 2nd design of CJ-5 park lamp begins early in the 1958 model year.
The 2nd design of CJ-5 park lamps are mounted vertically to the radiator guard.
The 2nd design of CJ-5 park lamps have a cast pot metal bezel which is chromed and the bezel screws are positioned horizontal.
These lamps were used on all CJ's from 1958 through 1963.

The 3rd design of CJ-5 park lamp begins in the 1964 model year.
The 3rd design of CJ-5 park lamps have an amber colored lens that is made of plastic.
These lamps were used on all CJ's from 1964 through 1968.

The 4th design of CJ-5 park lamps begins in the 1969 model year.
The 4th design of CJ-5 park lamps have a large clear colored lens that is made of plastic.
These lamps were used on all CJ's from 1969 through 1975.

The lamps in the pic posted are correct for all CJ's from early 1958 through 1963 vintage.
Perhaps the best way to fully verify exact vintage is via ring gear date of manufacture.
That said if the FDR happens to be 4.27 it must be a 1963 vintage.

Well thanks all but after looking this ranch hand over I can only say that it's a mixed breed. The running gear has been updated with some very large drum brakes that have self adjusters, looks to be a GM of some sort and it has a warn overdrive. I managed to get it running better by setting the point gap and timing but the knock is persistent. Plan is to get the brakes fixed, leaking wheel cylinder, then drop the oil pan and see what the knock is. I checked the compression and I had 75-80-60-60 but it doesn't burn oil and there is not a significant amount of blow by, any ideas why the compression is so low?

I'm still curious as to the serial number on the frame.

Indeed. Should be there, but might be hard to see. Mine was stamped very lightly, it was hard to see even with the tub off and my nose right up next to it. It's even harder now after blasting and powdercoating, but it's there.

Looks like my 1960 CJ5. The tail lights have been removed & recessed, the dash has a few added gauges & the ignition switch should be on the right side of the steering column. The hitch has been replaced but the floor pans and body mimic my 1960. Why are there 4 shift levers?

That appears to be an overdrive shift lever.

Could have been over-heated and collapsed the rings. Maybe run very low on oil.
