Dana 44 vent

    I have been all over my 1969 cj5/225 looking for the rear dana44 diff/axle vent...it should have one right? front axle vent is easy to see (dana 27). tried some pictures but very poor. Thanks

    thanks... found the axle vent (used a pick)but does not appear to have the bearing lubricator or vent...was this there on my vintage? again thanks in advance

    I have 69 cj to and the axle only had a small hole in the axle tube.

    Howard Eisenhower has a picture of the original vent, which is only a small hole on the left axle tube.

    Some weld this up and tap the case for a traditional vent. My axle vent got clogged and my diff is now slightly pressurized.

    I've since welded this up & added a vent to the top of the pumpkin.

    Thanks for the info...think I will be closing that vent and adding one to the pumpkin when I get to the axles.
