Am working on locating a new battery mount in my CJ2A with a V-6. Original battery mount is history. Any ideas on fabricating a replacement that I can bolt on? Looks like all OEM replacements are a combination weld and bolt on. What other locations work?

I build a mount that strattles the frame at the stock location even after putting a V6 in. I make it out of square stock as a base with 2 sides split out. Drill the mount and frame, 1/2" bolt and put the box on top. Comes off easy when I pull the drive train the next time.

I'll see if I have a pic handy this weekend.

    Hi Chuck,

If you could come up with a picture of your battery mount, it would really be appreciated.

I put my flatty battery behind the center cross member on the driver's side-under the bed. You could make a bolt up in that same location but a welded version would be better. Down side is that an access door is required in the bed. Up side is notable freed up space under the hood. My York OBA now occupies some of that original battery location.

When I swapped the seats in mine I made room under the passenger seat to mount a sealed optima on it's side. If you don't have a sealed battery this might not be an option though.
