1966 CJ5 No Driver's side tank and Harley Davidson Speedometer in Dash

    I think you have a newer tub installed onto a 66? chassis. And that is not a Harley Davidson speedometer. That is a factory jeep gauge same as the one I have in my 59 cj5 Stewart Warner made it. Someone must have glued that harley badge onto it.

    That is what I was thinking too. Very strange. I got the jeep for $700 dollars just for the tub. It is in great shape. The more research I keep finding out that it is a frankenjeep.

    Windshield is wrong for a '66 also.

    Lacking other evidence, I'd guess it's a '70 or '71. Does it have the rear tank? Is there an adapter between the bellhousing and the transmission, or does the bell bolt directly to the transmission?

    A likely interpretation is that a '66 title is on a '70 or '71 Jeep that lacked a title or could not be titled, for whatever reason. The serial number is stamped into the frame top, near the right front shock mount. Compare it to the VIN.

    Large turn signals, bottom mount wipers, rear gas tank, front fender marker lights....
    everything I see there looks like 1971.
    I agree with the above posters, it's been re-titled/tagged.

    i'd say you got a nice score for $700. looks like a pto winch on the front, a nice tub. i cannot tell what rear axle it is but still a nice score

    looking at shifter is that a 4 speed . ether way nice score for $700 .

    I don't know about the state you live in, but here in PA, they are fussy about title work. I suggest that you register and license the vehicle before you invest much money into it in case there is an issue with false title number. It took me nearly 2 years to get the plates for my 67 here in PA, and all of my numbers were correct.
