I'm getting along on my current project, a frame-up rebuild of a '70 CJ-5 with Dauntless V6, SM420, Dana 18, etc. I started the project a few years back and at that point the various components were in varying states of disassembly. Sound familiar? :D I've got a couple of "spare" parts that I honestly can't identify. Anyone familiar with these guys? I think the smaller one may have come from the carb? Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks!

The smaller bracket goes under a bolt in the front of the manifold to hold the throttle return spring. The larger bracket looks to be the starter housing to block stabilizer.

Walt, thanks a ton! Both of those make sense now that I have some context. ;-)

jeepcj, I actually didn't find it in Ohio, I bought it from a guy up in Michigan for $250 and it only needed a light rebuild (wear items). Turned out to be a great deal, and it fits perfectly with the Novak adapter.
