I'm no expert but I do own a 67 with a 225 V6. Mine has 7 leafs in the rear with centers ~44-3/4" apart. The front has 10 leafs and is ~38-1/4 eye to eye. I should mention that my body is off so although they're sitting in the frame, there's no weight on them.

Yes, spent an hour on the computer and found too many different answers. Someone gave me some decent used springs. 9 rear and 7 front. I have read that is the norm for the cj5 with v6 but I've found some old pictures of my jeep that are not very clear. I think it shows 10 in front and 9 in rear, and I have seen that in aftermarket kits. Can it be a heavy duty version ?

These look original to me. 10 leaves is not unusual.

"There's lots of variation in leaf count and other characteristics. Jeep offered a standard and "heavy duty" suspension package for the entire run of the CJ-5, to the best of my knowledge. The standard springs will have fewer leaves."

"Anywhere from 5 to 13 leaves per spring assembly for a CJ5/6.
The exact number of individual leaves depends on spring location (front or rear) the model, the vintage, the engine and standard vs. optional.
Three manufacturers Mather, Eaton and Liggett.
Three designations Standard, Heavy Duty, or Maximum Load."

Usually the Jeep is the best record of what was installed from the factory. Leaf count is arbitrary - depends on the design choices of the manufacturer. If they fit and are not flat, run 'em.

So someone gave me these original springs off a V6 Cj5. I got a price from a spring co. of $ 240.00 to refurbish all 4. Thats 1/2 the price of new springs. The only difference is my original front springs were 10 leaf. These are 8. do I go for the refurb ??

I wouldn't pay 240 to refurb them. From the picture they look pretty good, clean, paint and use. If the bushings are worn replace them.

The installed spring packs should be adjusted to suit your typical load requirements.
Most U.S. jeepers tend to load their CJ's far below capacity.
I run 10 leafs front and rear but my rig is frequently loaded to the max with green oak.
And still I have never gotten the axle tubes closer than 1" to the axle bumpers.

Thanks for all the input. I am going with these springs but I dropped them off at the spring shop already since I noticed the smallest leaf on one front spring cracked. I feel better having them check them out.
