Wiring harness help

    Hello all
    After removing the original wiring harness from my CJ6 today, I think it might be beat to replace it. Looking for some advice from anyone who may have done this before. Any advice on brand and who to buy from would be helpful too since it seems that these things are not cheap.

    This topic has been covered a lot in older posts.

    Look here - https://www.google.com/search?q=site:earlycj5.net painless wiring - the best known brand is Painless, and you'll find a lot of posts about wiring if you search for that. Most go with a hot-rod harness like EZ- Wire or Painless. You can get an original-style harness too, if you'd rather.

    I did the EZ wire last summer. I found it to be affordable and pretty straight forward. My only advice is to take your time and be patient. It is not a job to be rushed or to work on when you are tired.

    I also used an EZ-Wiring harness. Think out your layout, buy quality heat shrink (marine grade) and connectors, and take your time. I'd also recommend buying a kit with a few extra circuits for future expansion.

    I have used the Painless in the past, and just installed an EZ Wire harness this spring. Both pretty similar and straight forward. The EZ Harness is quite a bit cheaper than the painless, but very good quality.

    I used a Centech model GV16J wiring kit. The only reason was that I got it for cheap from another member on ECJ5. Good kit...nothing ground-breaking. The instructions were confusing at times, because they cover so many different years of Jeeps, with one kit. But, I posted my questions here, and received the help I needed. I've heard there is confusion in the instructions of other kits also, for the same reason as the Centech.

    The only advice I have for you, is to plan out where all your wiring is going to go, and plan out your plugs/connectors/ect with the intention of being able to lift your body off of the frame easily.
