How does it flex? Did the springs come with shims?

Haven't had it in a flexy situation, but it rides better than most folks say procomp's stuff does. It came with 2 degree shims, which I originally installed but later pulled back out because it vibrated with them. Without them, it is smooth.

    CJ5 flatbed!

Hi there! Long time lurker, finally decided to get a membership here. :) This is my hunk'o'junk, Willy:

AS you can see, that's a flatbed. More on that in a sec. ;)

I've owned Willy for about four years now. He's a '63 with original motor and drivetrain, and ruined body.:) I bought him from a farm to use on my farm; he hasn't been street legal since he was PA inspected in 1998. But that's fine, I like him.

Why the flatbed? Well, that's there for several reasons. First and foremost, the tub was trash. The PO has "Great Stuff welded" the body to the frame, and when that foam broke loose, the rear of the tub could move around every time I hit a bump. Back in January of this year I decided to put in some proper body mounts under the front part of the tub. At the same time, I got tired of the tin floor (that's not a joke, the floor was just riveted 1/64" tin) in the back, and went a little crazy with my Sawzall. :p Using spare lumber, I built this up and couldn't be happier. In a lot of ways the flatbed has made Willy way more functional around the farm, and I use him every day. If I had to do it over, I'd raise the bed up another 2", it does rub the tires when I hit bumps at speed. But all in all I'm happy. :)

Now I'm looking for another CJ for a winter driver. We'll see!
