Anyone got any ideas on what to use to make wider flares for my CJ6, the old truck got a little dirty today after a mud run and the interior got a thrashing,

I don't see anything wrong....that's just the cost of doing business.
    And good business at that.

Mine looks like that evan with the hard top on. But I do have the windows down,
All I need to do is use the water hose (when we have water) and wash it out.

    Andrew also with a CJ6

You can mount TJ flares to a CJ but you'll have to trim back the sheet metal on the rear or it might look a little weird.

Regular TJ flares are a couple inches wider than CJ ones. Rubicon TJ flares are 1" wider still than the regular TJ ones. They also have more flex than the Bushwackers and won't crack apart if you happen to rub them against a tree or rock.

I hate to say it, but your tires are too wide. Some 33x10.50s on 8"wide wheels would be better.

You'll get better traction without having to sling as much mud, and what does fly off will be better controlled.

Looks good. Can you explain how you did that, what you used, and how they are attached?

Thanks for the comments, yep your right garden lawn edging is what I've used but I can't take all the credit myself as it was my Dad that tried it out first on his Willys, I thought if it was good enough for him then its good enough for me. This is the stuff I used

To install, I just cut the drop edge off the original flares with a body saw and then screwed it to the body arch lip (steel), took some setting up and you need half a dozen odd vice grips to mould it into position as it wants to straighten the entire time, but other than that it just bolts on. You will note that one edge of the edging has a 3/4" tube and the other has a reverse "V" lip (to stop it pulling out of the ground), I cut this lip off the rear flares, but flattened it out on the fronts as I needed more width. I spaced the screws fixings about 3" apart so as to get a good fixing, I also used a large washers with the screws to prevent pull through. Due to the 3/4" pipe running around the flare it makes into a very rigid unit and the old flare keeps it level. All in all it looks pretty good and almost factory like. Going out this weekend to trial it so fingers crossed it helps

I try to get splatter like that every time I find mud. Wear it with pride.

Just a note. Pacer performance has 4.5" fence flairs in a strip of universal flairs. Relatively cheap too. Check them out before trying to "make it work".
