Does anybody know where I can get the Bestop replacement skins new for a 1975 CJ (the kit that reuses the framework from their full Supertop setups)? It seems like they made them at one time. My '75 CJ-5 came with a Supertop, but it's grey... I'd really like tan. I see on their website where they've got the '76-'95. I'm relatively new to Jeeps, but I suspect that one won't work.

Barring that... any of you intermediate tan supertop owners wanna trade? :)

'76-on is indeed different. Won't fit.

Can't help you on the tan vinyl. Maybe you could have an upholstery shop make one, or dye what you have. IMO trying dye would be very risky. If it were mine, I'd try to convince myself that I wanted a gray top ...

    I agree! That's a nice looking CJ.

Gray is different. I like it.

Looks like "Medium Blue Poly" - is that the original color? It goes fine with the gray top, IMO. Looks like a different color in the antenna scar. I think a dark blue or deep red metallic would look really sharp with that top color.

I would call bestop directly to see if they offer replacement skins.

Thanks for the input, all. It seems I may have to be happy with grey if I don't want to plunk down $900ish for a new Supertop. Read on...

Good suggestion. I did that and here's what Bestop customer support told me:

They do not make replacement skins for 55-75 CJ-5 Supertops. Moreover, they never have. The _did_ make replacement skins for "factory soft tops" on 55-75 CJ's at one point many years ago (like prior to 1986 or so). It seems that was known as p/n 51115 with a trailing 01 for black, 02 for white, etc.

Therefore, it's either a new fully equipped Supertop in tan or to take your suggestions above to leave well enough alone. My wallet likes the latter option. I don't think I'll entertain dyeing or spraying or any of that.

btw - yeah, it's weathered Medium Blue Poly. Good eye.
