Just in case it ever happens to you, and you want to keep your Sparton turn signal unit. I broke my mounting bracket for the thing about twenty years ago, and I didn't want to change it for another style. Mine snapped just outside the steering column and left me with about 3/8's to a half inch of that half. Just happens I had changed the rear axle grease seals not long before, and hadn't thrown the old ones away, being a genuine cheapskate and all. Whadda ya know?!!? The radius of the seal area is awful close if not dead on to the steering column. So, I sectioned out a piece of the seal retainer, and drilled a couple of holes to match the bracket mount to the unit and VOILA! I still got my Sparton!
P.S. I seem to recall it broke due to the ruts being a bit wild, and I think there was alcoh... no, I'm sure..... never mind, it just broke

I think my Sparton is busted, it doesn't stay down when you try to signal, and I'm told it should. Time to break it apart and see how it works..

Pics. Um, about that; I'm computer illegitmate or sumthin', so I gotta work on that. I need to learn how to get them from me to the message without using them as an attachment, I think. Whole 'nother project that should be near the top of my list. As for taking the thing apart, go for it! Maybe it's just crudded up with stuff from forty years. My was pretty ugly when I got into it, but it cleaned up fine. Works good now, sorta. I think there might be an intermittent cross connection in there somewhere. Sometimes it blinks way too fast, and the next time it's fine. 'nother project, eh? Oh, and unless you're really clever with about a zillion tiny parts, stop when you get to the switch mechanism itself. I sprayed mine out with contact cleaner and blew it out. ( Maybe that's how I got the cross connect......) Good luck, and I'll work on the pic thing, I swear. And then I'll swear some more.....
