Stands and Lugs

Simple, only work during the day when there's sunlight coming in through the door. Or I guess I could do like WIP suggested and use a lantern. I've got some pump-up white gas ones, and a couple of old oil lamps as well.

That's actually an idea, considering how dim my parents' flashlights are.

 

No doubt you need PB and heat and use a breaker bar. I cut off a 2 foot section of pole from a chain link fence, it is a great breaker bar.
I gotta say the way I end up flailing around and sliding under and pulling myself out and putting extra force on nuts and bolts and getting nowhere and cussin' and tossin' wrenches and stomping off to go get another beer...the last place I would work on my jeep is inside a barn with gas or oil or any other open flame lamps. You can be darn sure I'd knock one over and burn down the whole freakin' place. Be careful!

I've got PB now. Just need to locate a propane torch.

Thankfully, the barn is mostly sheet metal.

But don't count on the left side ones being LH thread or the right side ones being RH thread! I've seen them mixed in every possible combination. Even some of both on the same wheel! Look closely at the nuts. They're usually stamped with an L for LH thread and sometimes R on the RH ones. Some LH lug nuts have a groove machined around the outer edge. Do you best not to break the lugs!! Mine were pressed in and were a B***** to get out! And when I did I found the hole was too large for new lugs so I had to by two complete hubs with lugs. It seems the lugs that they use are way over size and make a tight fit and also enlarges the hole so that the hub can't be reused. At least that been true with everyone of the 7 or 8 that I checked.

 

Have you tried the nuts at all yet? Possibly they may not even require the torch, etc.

Ha Ha.Too simple? My thoughts exactly. Alot of discussion over lug nuts.

 

One set of them didn't about three years ago, but they could've rusted stuck again. I found out my Jeep weekend is going to be late this month. Could be good, though; it gives me time to order in that hub puller from Kaiser Willys.
