Any particular reason for removing the fuel sender? The sender is designed specifically for you gauge if stock. Stock sender has 6 hold-down screws.

after removing the screws it should just lift out...sometimes you have to angle them a little but not a big deal

yes i want to change it because it has a 4 cyl sending unit in it and i want to put the 6 cyl, so the gas gauge will work.

"it has a 4 cyl sending unit in it and i want to put the 6 cyl." Did they tell you to change the blinker oil too?

Maybe they meant a 6 volt versus 12 volt system?

The sender is a variable resistor therefore it is not voltage sensitive. Is your tank under the drivers seat or under the back of the jeep. We need more info to troubleshoot this problem before we go swapping parts.

Agreed, lets slow down and diagnose this issue before we start pulling parts and spending money on what could be the wrong part(s).
