    If the shift pattern is: reverse left and up, shouldn't the back up switch be on the drivers side of the trans? Mine was set up the same as the image, but is that right?????

    Yes the diagram shows the correct place for the correct switch. When you pull the lever to the left, the bottom of the lever moves to the right which slides the right shift rail.
