t90 trans leak. mine leaks like a siv from the front main shaft. i understand that installing a sealed bearing will take care of this leak. for anyone that's familiar with these... is that hard to do? do i have to take apart the trans to do it? can i install the sealed bearing and the felt washer to added assurance? any special tools needed? any advice?

The T-90 is a very simple tranny and I think that if you own a jeep your best tool is an FSM (factory service manual.) The pilot roller bearing assy will fall to the bottom of the tranny when you remove the input shaft so you will need a magnet to fish them out or dismantle the tranny complete. The pilot bushing being worn out will allow the input shaft to wobble which wears out the bearing retainer seal which causes a severe lube leak. A small parts rebuild kit should be considered and yes the sealed bearing is a plus. To replace the bearing you will need a split bearing puller and or a bench press.

I think with all the posts about T90's, they are supposed to leak. That way you always have fresh fluid and if it stops leaking you know you have to add more.
