new wheels for cj5

    hey everyone, i've got a 62 cj5. i am looking to get a new set of rims and tires. the wheels i like are the white spoke steel rims that were really popular back in the day. i've found them new online.they 15x7 with a 3.75" backspacing. i plan on running 31/10.5/15 tires. my question is, will the 3.75" backspacing work for my jeep?

    I like the idea of running a 7" wheel with a 10.50 tire; good combo.
    I run the same combo on my LJ.

    3.75" backspacing is just 1/4" less than the common 4" BS on an 8" wheel...
    It should be fine on your '62.

    Some states require the tread, or the entire tire, to be covered by the body or by the body/flare.
    If this applies in your area, you may need to add flares if you don't already have them... depending on how these line up with your body panels.

    I've had some 31x10.50 on 8" wheels/4" BS tires rub the springs on an ECJ5 when turned to full lock. Using a 7" wheel may avoid this. If it does happen, just add some length to the stops to prevent rubbing.

    In my experience, 3 3/4" back space is pretty much the norm for "standard" aftermarket wheels...

    31x10.50x15 on some vintage white spokes. They hang out of the wheel well by ][ this much.
