I know this topic pops up from time to time so I thought I would post up my finding. 1989 Dakota bench seat will fit, so I would go out on a limb and say all bench seats in that body style should work. We installed one in our 73 over the past week, will post pics tommorow. If you find one with good seat cover the design of the upholstery matches the Jeep styling well

    here are some pics

mounting, requires use of matching sliders. trim off 1" from rear mounting tab and match up driver side with original seat bracket hole. you need the sliders so you can have seat move foward to install rear bolts, most will need seat slide all the way back to fit behind the wheel

front mounting, 2"? .120 wall tubing. spans entire width of tub and requires a bend where the tube intersects the tool box (will lose access to tool box)

and drill holes to match bolt hole in slider

    then enjoy!

Im 5'11" and 230 lbs and fit pretty good behind the wheel, my left leg does rub the seat some when releasing clutch but not enough to bother me. I dont even notice it when wearing pants. I know some dont like the idea of losing tool box storage area but i always bring along my tools in a seperate tool box so no biggee. For us its a big plus in keeping the dogs out of the front (a siberien husky and a berness mtn dog) and its about a thousand times more comfortable than the 280z buckets we had, Just sitting and absorbing the bumps in the road

We also added some carpet, heat (no more melted shoes!) and sound insulations and new shift knob and it got a trans shifter boot for the first time in 8+ years
