last year I bought a fuel pump for the dauntless from Napa it was $40 it is now dead and only putting out 2bls ,perfect for the trail but staving at speed. no warrentyanymore on that . got one from Kragen it was $23 but the only visual difference I see is the size or the return opening on the new one it is LESS than 1/16" and the old new one is 1/4" ...WTH do I drill it upside down so no chips get in the diaphram? or is it ok to leave it , I think not?

    dang it !!!
I drilled out that return line hole -1/16" is way to small to flow fuel .......but .................
I checked the fuel pressure of the old pump and that was 2.5/3lbs
this new on fills the filter with gas BUT ,, it is only at 1lb, I don't get what happening ,,, I have a electric pump plumbed in line also maybe there is a problem with that ... when I turn the pump on bang,,,,,I havea steady 6lbs......

Chuck,it actually comes in pretty handy,up till now I have not regreted it.
if I I don't catch the changing of tanks before the carb runs out of fuel it will reprime the pump,I used to have to pour some fuel down the carb for it to reprime .

I took the elec.one out of the line and that was the problem for some reason it quit pulling fuel through it ....all is well. I now have a steady 4lbs.

I've got a regular ol' mechanical pump from NAPA, and mine will always pick up fuel if I run 1 tank dry. Might have to crank for a minute or so, but it'll always pick up.

That return line is more of a pressure return to tank and not so much as putting a bunch of fuel back there. Some electric fuel pumps have a built in filter. Yours may have gotten plugged up with junk.
