So the gas tank on the 60 cj5 is pretty bad and I saw an alum gas tank from a boat for sale pretty cheap. Can I use this tank...are there any issues I should know about? The tank is very similar in shape to the original jeep tank, just bigger. Thanks for your input!

Where do you intend to mount it? Underseat like stock?

If so, looks like you'll have problems with fill, mand maybe with float and return lines. Will it fit under the seat? How will you secure it to the floor? Do you have any state vehicle inspection rules that this may violate?

You could mount it in the rear under the floor if you remove the K-member and fabricate a way to mount it securely (and add a skid plate).

Is the tank baffled inside to prevent sloshing?
I've seen some fuel cells mounted behind the front seat, usually in off-road-only rigs, not sure about legality of that set up...

I would check into the effects of ethanol in the fuel these days, and the associated water separation. It sure seems to attack alloy parts, not sure about aluminum.

The thought was to mount in in the back of the jeep, in the cargo area. I don't know if it has a baffle but I will ask. While I'd like to get this jeep street legal I think at this point I'm just going to use it around the farm. I still want to be safe, and the same person has a 14 gal tank for sale also...may fit under seat.

2x Under the Jeep would be safest. I have one in my old boat never a problem with new fuels. Should be just fine to use if it fits properly.
