Just throwing this out there for opinions/feedback.

What do you set your Dauntless' idle speed at?

Why are there different specs for different model years? Was it because of the pollution stuff they put on the later years (70-71)?

My spec sticker says 650-700 rpm, I have always used that speed until recently. There is a link to a company that makes reproduction spec stickers, and I saw one for the old v6's. I saw that some V6's were factory set 700-750.

A few weeks ago I set mine up to that and I like it. It warms up faster, sounds better, idles smoother and the engine responds better when starting out from a stop.

I still use 650-700 when setting my timing and dwell, but boost it to 725 for operation. I Like it.

I always ran mine at 600-650

The early standard was 550 RPM.
If you have a vehicle with automatic transmission the RPM is always set higher.
Same thing after the introduction of the air/smog pump.

Chiltons manual says 550, but I run mine like 650-700. I might lower it to see how it runs.
Originally my idle was really low probably around 600 sounded good but just sounded like its going to die or something when its that low...

Mine is sitting right on 500. HEI is 15, plugs at 45, electric fuel pump. It will idle along in first gear with no problem.

Personal preference thing. I always set my engines at a grand. I just like it best.
