Jeep Camper

Don't know if this belongs in tech, but thought you guys would like to see it. My buddy's brother just brought this in from Grass Valley, CA. It's been in their family since 1972 and the Jeep has been sitting in a barn for quite some time. Their dad is getting old and they are clearing off the property I guess. The two brothers had lots of stories about camping in this thing. I t was really cool to see...



The Jeep itself is in fantastic shape. The body is almost perfect. And the Meyers half-cab is in incredible shape.



I was surprised to see a gas filler on the passenger side, but they said these camper models came with 2 tanks, one under each seat:

On the back of the camper the words "Jeep Camper" can barely be made out. From what the brothers told me, this thing is all factory Jeep! Awesome! Hope you like the photos!

 

Love it! That looks like an awesome example of the Camper Jeep. What will happen to it, if you know/can disclose?

hysterical in my mind. And those pieces in front of the windsheild are holding the camper top down, not up

 

I'd like to show up..............ehh.....anywhere in that.

 

wonder how slow you have to drive one of those to feel safe

 

Well, I fished around a little, but niether brother was biting. They're pretty attached to it...both were reminiscing about camping in it as kids with their dad and laughing about putting the Jeep to the test at Pismo as teenagers. I can get more photos anytime...I was out in that little desert town today working on an old truck and the camper came to mind several times...I wanted to go look at it some more. It's really something to see.

Camper was patented by my brother-in-law Chuck Prater of Kentucky. I have his last one built for a CJ7.

 

Cool! I posted that photo a little over a year ago. The Jeep and camper are still sitting in the exact same spot! It saddens me to think that this may become another "was running when parked" scenario.

 

Very cool. There is a small part of me that would like one.

 

My guess - zero MPH ;P
