I am looking for ideas for a rollcage for my 1974 CJ5. I want to use the origianl roll bar as the starting point. Over time I have seen a number of pictures of rollcages here on the forum but now when I am ready to build one I can not seem to find any. So, if you think you have the ultimate rollcage please post pictures so I might get some ideas for my rollcage. Thank you.

It's not the best cage for protection but i was looking for lightweight and look. I used my original rollbar and added the front.

    I
think this is the ebay guy you were talking about. I bought the steering box brace from him earlier this year and it was fairly well built. Some time this winter I will probably buy a family cage from him. That or a bender...

I was pretty happy with the overall look of the 'cage I had built for my CJ6. Seat mounts and seat belt mounts were all integrated - if it pulled loose from the body during a roll you would be contained inside the rollcage yet. Were I to do it again I'd make some changes to simplify the floor structure a bit but it worked well:

Here's a shot of mine from the back lift gate:

And one from the side showing the front:

I have not yet made connectors to the frame for the rear section, which need done to make this a true cage. The front will tie into the rocker guards and frame supports I made for the front floor pans. A dash bar would be a good idea also. I made tabs on the rear most vertical bars to add in a cross brace for positioning head rests for the rear seat, that way the kids heads won't contact the rear lift gate glass.

And one from the front looking back:
You can see the tabs I referred to in this shot.

Trickpatrick, I really like your roll cage. It's the first cage for a long jeep I've seen that I like. I would like to try something like yours on my CJ6.
