New Commando person here. I bought this Commando for the Buick 225 engine. It has a 3 speed transmission. I got to thinking about a larger-drum brake upgrade on my CJ-3A and wondered what size brakes came on this Commando, not knowning the exact year Commando. How to tell what year this one is? What axles? Thanks for any help, Paul

Well I have not figured out how to post the photos yet, it says "You may not post attachments" so I maybe can't let you see the Commando and s/n plate. Help, Paul

    jpflat2a what's that noise?

the brakes would be 10 inch diameter

Which transmission would this one have? T14? T86? Which transfer? D18? D20? I read one site that stated Commandos only came with D20 cases..........true? Thanks, Paul

I'm gonna guess at 1968 or earlier, based on the smaller parking lamps in the grille.
The rear axle is most likely a model 30, or "little" rear axle.
The brake backing plates won't mount to a 44 axle, different bolt pattern.
and I'm not a Jeepster expert.....

Definitely a 68 or earlier. Didn't the Dana 30 only come behind the 4 cylinder?

Can I have the body? LOL

The fellow said he thought 1967 but was not sure at all. I thought the serial number plate would tell all. I am real new to Commandos so the small parking lights kind of info was what I was looking for. He rebuilt the V6 and then after driving it a few miles, got terribly frustrated with the clutch mechanism and parked it. A local engine builder did the engine so it was probably done right but has been sitting for 8 years or so. He has tons of other "projects", some of which are finished nice, so I know he is just not talking trash. Most are cars or trucks, not 4x4. Is that body worth saving? Is this a CJ-6 chasiss ?? Thanks for help, Paul I am in north Mississippi near Oxford.
