Buick 231 hei with short water pump?

So transplanted a 231 even fire and was lining everything up and the waterpump was in contact with radiator. Had a spare short neck waterpump and this gives me 1 inch of fan clearance. Now the problem is the fan is in contact with my new hei vacuum advance. Originally was a v6 jeep. Have an older oddfire points distributor but I doubt it will work in an evenfire. Any ideas? Radiator looks to be a mustang possibly. Same thickness as a stocker that I also have. I can put the distributor in but only have a small amount of available play to adjust it. Maybe 3 inches or so.

So you swapped the EF 231 for an OF 225 - correct? Yes the pumps are different length and the position can be off a bit. Can you use a fan spacer to get the clearance for the fan? That is what I have done to make it work in the past.

Seems like the points distributor should still work, it's just a matter of what order you hook up the spark plug wires, right? I'm sure you'd rather have your HEI distributor, though.

That would be incorrect, can't use an oddfire dist in an evenfire no matter what order you put the wires in.
Spacing the pulley is an option as long as the belts will still line up. Slightly smaller Wp pulley would be another option if spacing throws everything out of whack too much.

I made a spacer to go between the fan and water pump. Maybe 3/4" to 1". Works great, but there is not a ton of space between the fan and radiator.

I had a revelation, i noticed the vacuum advance on the new distributor has the vacuum port coming straight out of the end of the system, i happen to have a couple older 231 evenfire distributors and the vacuum port comes out at a 90 and the body is about a half inch shorter, this gives me much more room to work with. I swapped this evenfire motor into the 66 tux i recently aquired until i rebuild a 225 to put back in place then this motor gets to go back in my 68 cj-5 project, but at least i can finally break it in, its been sitting for 6 years and never run.
