Windshield Frame worth saving??????

I'm looking for opinions on whether or not this windshield frame is worth saving. I didn't realize the cancer was so bad until I removed a piece of metal that was pop riveted to the lower inside frame covering up the rust.

If you think it's salvageable how would you go about repairing it? or what's the best method of repair?

I just threw out one that wasn't quite that bad. I didn't feel like it would be very easy to repair the rusted bottom panel on frame. I found a couple used ones that were in much better shape.

I would toss that one...I just sold an OEM unit with glass, rust free for only $200.

Wish you were closer. I have one in my garage you could have. Don't think its worth the shipping cost though.

Mine is rotted too. I was going to try and repair it, but I think I'll buy a new replacement and replace the fogged glass while I'm at it. You can buy a new frame and gasket, and have the glass installed locally. A takeoff might be cheaper. Florida is closer to Dallas than Boston ...

    Thanks for pointing that out.

Whether it's a bargain depends on what they charge to ship. Raybuck charges $40 just to handle the item, plus whatever their shipping charges are. Oconee Off-Road has it for $178, with free shipping and 5% discount currently, so it should be $169 from them including everything. It would be cheaper from Raybuck if shipping is less than $50... but I'd guess you'd only save about $20, if that. Oconee has the gasket too.

Just ordered mine, but I live in PA, so...it was only $142.05. I used to order alot of stuff for my old J10 when I had it. Good to deal with.

Hilliard is north and a little west of Jax?

There is a dude that has a jeep junkyard down in Palatka. He has early cj5 WS frames. He is real proud of his stuff, but it would be worth a drive. I can post up his address if you are interested.........

Just in addition to what everyone is saying....I would STRONGLY recommend an OEM windshield frame. The aftermarket ones are paper thin. Sure they are new, but I found them to be WAY too flimsy for my tastes. Cheers!
