Flattie windshield frame question

    sac13 Come oooonnnnn summer....

I scored an aluminum half cab and I'm having a heck of a time identifying which 'Jeep' its for...I have a 74 CJ5 and it fits along the doors and tub, but my windshield frame is about 1-2" too wide at the top. I could hack up the cab to make it fit, but I'm not 100% sure I want to ruin it since there are probably only a handful left. I'd really like to find out exactly which models it was made for. I know 72-75 is out and I'm leaning towards 76 and later. If I can find out what its for and possible morph one of those ws frames onto my CJ, I think I can make it work.

    I have a question and a request.

Are all flattie ws frames flat across the top?

If not, can someone measure a curved one along a straight line from corner to corner? I realize the ends are curved, but if you can measure from the tangent along the side to the other side, this will give me an idea if this top was made for a flattie.

Below is a picture of the top and you can see that the front corner doesn't wrap around the end of the ws frame like it should.

    Thanks for the help!

Around 52 1/4", I have some door fillers in the way so can't be exact.

    jpflat2a what's that noise?

    yes I can measure
it's really a moot point though...
the doors aren't flatty doors, not even close
as someone else has already stated

I also got 52-1/4" wide on a 3B windshield frame. The top is slightly curved.

BTW - I'm in the exact opposite position of you - I have a flattie and I scored a Koenig full top for a CJ-5. Too bad we weren't closer - maybe we could trade :)

I'm very interested in your project; hope you can post some pics of your progress. Might give me ideas for when I do mine!

The cab pictured is for a CJ-5 without a doubt. There may have been a special windshield frame to go with that cab, I know some of the hardtops for the flatties definitely had their own ws frame.

    w3srl,
Good point. I never thought of that. I have a buddy with a 79 so I'm gonna borrow his windshield and see if I can make it work. If so, I'm gonna go that route.

    Doug,
Too bad although I got rid of my full top. I kinda like the super mini pick up look! I'm hoping I can make this one work.

Thanks for measuring also guys. It's as I feared and you are right, no way it's for a flattie due to the doors. I was wondering if a flattie ws frame swapped onto my CJ5 would work and provide a closer to stock angle. That doesn't appear to be a good idea either. Oh well.

The only one that is flat is a 2A. 3A & 3B are curved.
