Pintle, or hybrid?

Looking for a hitch for my JK, would like a pintle hitch, but would also like the more common 2" ball hitch.

Is the hybrid pintle, with the 2" ball a good idea? Or is it better to get separate hitches?

Also, the larger military trailers, for use behind the humvee's, are they too big for the JK?

We use the hybrids at work. Have one with the2 5/16 ball and we pull rollers and skid loaders, etc with it. Nice because you change the ball if you need to. We, being a municipality, have 2 complete set ups for each truck, one with a 2" ball and one with the 2 5/16" ball. We have several different trailers with either one of these two ball sizes or a lunette. I wish they'd just put lunettes on everything and make it easy but, as i said, it's a governmental thing where common sense has no place.

We use the hybrid type ones at work, mostly for smaller trailers up to 10K or so. I hate them, they have so much extra room that they are noisy and really obnoxious. I would get two hitches if you can swing it.

    Fnord5,
Do you have tracter Supply stores out there? $125 dollars for a combination hitch. :coffee:

Best of both hitches. Bolt adapter to pintle thru eye and hitch to ball. No pounding and it still flexes.

Picked up a hybrid the other day, just waiting for the mounting plate.

    36 bucks for the hook.

Yes, I bought it from HF.
No, it wasn't made in China. India actually.
It's got a capacity far far exceeding what I may ever pull with the Jeep, I think its an 8 ton hook. For a little Jeep trailer, it's going to work just fine.

Oh well, looks like a 416 for me then.
