spark plug gap?

    Dondo These are my good pants..

    1985 Buick 3.8 V-6.

    What would the gap be?

    If the gap is wrong, would it backfire more?

    Dondo: You can't go wrong with .035. If you have HEI .040 is fine.

    The book for 1980 Buick 231 says .060, but I think this is way too much. I put in Bosch platinums that are pre-gapped, and not intended to be adjusted. I have a backup set of AC Delco's that are gapped at .060 for spares (I cant imagine a spark plug failing on the trail, but wierder things have happend, and the P.O. threw them in for free when I bought the thing) If I had to put a number on it, .040 seems to be a good place to start.
