'53 CJ3B. It doesn't have the original engine. According to the engine serial decoder lookup page, the engine is a 1976 231 odd-fire. It has a T90 transmission and 5.38 axles and no overdrive. At 45 mph, everything sounds like it's about to fly apart. When my wife and I go for a ride, we practically need aircraft headsets to talk to each other.

 

Beautiful! Not having overdrive with 4.88’s even sounds like it’s about to fly apart, but 5.38’s!

 

I had an hurricane four with 5.38s and an overdrive, stock willys mb tires and suspension. It was just barely able to make enough power to unwind to a top speed of about 55mph. Puts a grin on my face recalling all the mechanical noise and shifting! Never bothered me a bit.

 

Towed her about an hour up to the trails. Liked the A/C, radio, conversation W wife on the way. Had a real nice ride around the woods. Been really dry so couldn’t find any puddles big enough to get stuck in so the new winch remains untested.

Made a forced air hose from alluminium duct hose from Home Deot, new Walmart battery, Tractor supply battery cables.

 

How close to soft hose do you think it looks. I was debating on painting it black or not, but hit it with flat black. I thought $12 was easier to swallow than what they ask for repo. Now I just have to tap out the broken screw in the fender for the hold down. Yes it was coming easy, right up to snapping. And no, there is not enough left from underneath to get pliers on.

I think it's fine the color is a bit glossy but the original hose from what I remember was about 2"in segment length and felt like a rubberized fabric.

 

Love the color of the tan/drab 54. What color/paint is it?
