My friend has made one and it inspired it. He gave me a spare front half of a MB frame, and I'm gonna make a dyno out of it!

Work has begun...getting rid of the unnecessary crap like shock mounts and removing the bad rust areas. I am also going to make the engine mount bracket removable so I can fit any engine I want! I will make a stand for it so the engine is at about waist high and will mount a gauge cluster so I can monoter the engine when its running.

should take another day or two and this quick project will be done and ready to work. I have a few spare transmissions, clutches and flywheels I could use. I also have a spare radiator I could use also...just need an engine

I vote for suckling hog on a rod for rear drivetrain, giant ice cream churn for the front.

    ^LOL^

No I am going to install a brake (have not decided exactly how) I plan on having something to put pressure on an industrial scale I have (goes up to 500 lbs) If I have it so that rotationally I can put pressure on the scale, I can effectively measure how much ft-lbs of torque I am making, thus I can calculate the horsepower.

I gust found out the that the local engine shop has a spare dyno they would probly sell...its also homemade, just never assembled. I might look at how they did that one.

I saw a web page a few years ago where they used a torque converter as a brake, ran water through it, adjusted the load by adjusting the water feed rate.

OK frame is stripped (its just channel now) wire brush tomorrow, paint this weekend. Rustolum will do. However I need to figure out how to make a stand for it. I want metal, but we have a lavish woodworking shop, and a barn fool of wood, but if I can work it right I might get some scrap angle iron from the local Tech Center.I found some spare gauges I could use. Also I have found a spare starter.

THINKING ABOUT IT: I may build this thing and use it only one time, in that case I may sell it, in that case, would anyone want half a MB frame on a stand? With some gauges attaches to it?

Well, I never got around to painting it, stupid weather.

I was able to get metal. Looks like a quick weekend project to get the thing put together. I will be bolting it, not welding it to make it easier to store when I am not using it.

    I had only a small selection...^^

Took an hour after supper and wire brushed. I got carried away and somehow found myself welding the frame...
