My pile-o-jeeps came with two heaters. They are obviously not stock, but they do look pretty old. The id plates are unreadable. Should I rebuild one of these or is there else I should use?

You can. If the case isn't falling apart (like mine from I believe a Mack truck was) you can take it apart and put a new core in it, a radiator shop should have you covered there.
If you don't want to go that (possibly expensive) route, you can do the Summit heater, I Have one, not in yet but I hear they're real fireballs.

My memory takes me back (looking at these) to the 6 volt days.. Something to think about if you have already converted to 12V..

You might not even have to put a new core in them. Just try it. Try to figure out if they are 6 or 12 volt.

Your Pile-O-Jeeps have Wagon or Pickup parts in them. Those look like the ones under the dash of the '51 or '51 models.
