Bill, trust us on this ,

There is indeed a voltage regulator for the instruments and on your vehicle it is incorporated into the fuel gauge as is indicated in the diagrams previously posted. You will hook up your harness's "white" wire to the point on the fuel gauge that sez "Fuel Gauge Ignition Feed Wire- (Red)".

    i trust you guys.
i'm just an idiot that gets confused easily.

Sorry for contributing to the confusion. My first thought was that there might be a separate fuse for the gauges, but when I looked again I saw that the fuse list does not indicate such a fuse. I would expect that this white wire comes from the ignition fuse (#2), but this doesn't affect where you connect it to the gauges.

Bill the only thing you need to make sure is, check the white wire you will put on the "I" term on the fuel gauge does in fact turn "on" and "OFF" with the Ign switch.

the white wire either goes to the back of the gauges as every one says the only time it is used for the alt is on the 10si as an exciter the same thing had me baffeled for a minute cuz the white wire was run with the harness for the cluster not the engine where i needed it dont know if this is usefull or just jibberish but hope you got it figgerd out

I am puting a Delco 10SI on my 69/225 Dauntless. As I undersatand this thread the power off the alternator goes to battery(or starter solenoid)....where do the other (2) terminals go off the 10SI

Yes the Bat term should have at least a 10 ga wire from the BAT term on back of alt to the POS term on battery. Usually that wire is carried down to the starter solenoid where your pos battery cable connects. The nr 2 spade on the alt will have a wire 12 or 14 ga going to the BAT on alt. The nr 1 spade will normally go to the ign light in the dash. You can do a SEARCH from the above and type in 10si wiring and find diagrams of this setup..
