Does anyone know what the recommended range is for the water temp in the 225 V-6. How hot is too hot?
    Thanks

I think they call for a 185*. Thats what I am running, and the temp. usually hovers around 190*

Factory specs in the Jeepster service manual call for a 190. When I first bought mine, there was a stuck thermostat, but I replaced it with a 195 (since I couldn't find a 190 anywhere).

It ran cool in the winter, but come summer, it ran a little too warm for my liking- it didn't overheat, but the needle was into the 3/4 range.

So, then I replaced the 195 with a 180 (and stuck in a four-row high-efficiency rad, which was long overdue), and the temp. gauge rarely creeps above the halfway mark.

Keep in mind, though, I live in SoCal, whether summer/winter temp. differentials aren't as extreme as other parts of the country.

Thanks for the info. That is about what I thought. Mine gets hotter, but only after sitting at idle for an extended period. I may have to put an electric fan on the radiator to increase air flow.
    Thanks

    185. My electric fan kicks on if it gets over 205.

Welcome terrywooten from Ohio. Where are you from?

Do you have the stock temp gauge in the speedo, or do you have an aftermarket dial gauge (to see what temp you're actually running)?

It also matters where on the intake manifold the thing's screwed into as it'll vary from one to the other. If memory serves correctly, ideal operating temp is at 190* or 195*. Hopefully a kind soul here can confirm that.

Glad to have you aboard.

  8. Welcome from Havasu. As Hippo can confirm, it gets HOT here! R) Mine runs about 185* in normal weather (100* or so). When it get's hot, above 118*, it runs about 195-200*. that's with a 180* thermostat. so far, so good. :)

    Oops! Welcome from Havasu.

Mine has a 180 degree thermostat and runs at about 180 to 190 unless I spend time at idle or in heavy traffic on a hot day. I installed an 1800 cfm electric fan on a manual switch, and it will bring the temp back down to 180 from 200 in about two to three minutes. The electric fan is a simple and low cost solution. I recommend it.

I've had an electric fan for about 5 years. About 2 summers ago I bought a Flexlite fan to replace the stock one. It has a lot of angle on the blades and moves a lot of air. I rarely use my electric fan anymore. I put my elctric fan on an On/Off switch and only use it when on big hill climbs /hot days etc.
