Does anbody have any info on these ,do they work, how much are they, best brand? ,best price? I am running 35" tires on my 66' cj5 and think a little wider wheel track would be a good thing, the only others option would be wider axles like out of a wagoneer anybody done this swap? :flag:

I looked around for some a while back and found that Spidertrax was about the least expensive. Something in the neighborhood of $200.00.

I found that you can almost buy a new set of their wheels which already have an offset backspacing which will do the same thing with seemingly less stress on your axle.

I might still go that route but not right now.

baby john is right.. i was gonna use the spidertrax spacers but I discovered they also sell custom offset heavy duty steel wheels that come out to be about the same price when you get done paying shipping (they get $13 a rim to ship but DAAAAAAAAAAAAAANG they are heavy, much heavier than say an american racing steel wheel)... plus they are a lot simpler to bolt up AND they have the valve stem pointing staight up waaaaaay back in the wheel out of harms way and Jerry (JMcdavid, er sumthin' like that) can tell ya how important that is... we spent 2 hours stuck on the trail at windrock for this very reason on a TJ..

Sorry but I'm almost glad to hear that about the valve stem breaking.

I've got flush mount stems on mine and all the guys laughed at me for putting them on there. I really thought I had wasted some more money on something stupid. Now I'm feeling a little better about it.

Hmmm I wonder if Jerry was one of the ones who laughed at me?

    Wait...no that was Brad.

ssolds, I just ordered (wednesday)a pair over the phone from Perfomance Wheel in Colorado. $55 each. $.75 a nut and about $15 to ship. It will take about 10 days to get them. They make them up as ordered but recomended 1 1/2" spacers so you don't have to cut your studs. I went with 1 1/4" each. I run a '70 cj5 rear axle and stock sloted aluminum wheels with 9.50 swampers. My rear tires rub on the tub also due to the added flex from Holbrook long leaf springs. I decided on spacers cause my front axle is a wide track (2 1/2" wider than the rear) and spacers will equal the track up and fix the rubbing. Also all 5 wheels will remain the same.

I also run the spacers from Performance wheel, in 1 1/2", all four. Been running them for~ 3 1/2 tears. FWIW

If I had a choice, I'd choose wheels with the right backspacing. However, I don't see how using one or the other affects anything other than shear force on the lug bolts.

the spacers would increase the moment about the spindle bolts wouldn't they? and if i remember right the spindle bolts are already a point of issue with some people (the stud conversion).

Yes, but a wheel with less backspacing would do the same.

I'd never laugh at ya John. :D With ya but not at ya. :D
The TJ in ? had his wheel turned trying to fight a rut, I told him not to.
Knock on wood, I've never ripped a valve stem
    I like the flush mounts.
Now on wheel spacers I've used them on the front of drag cars with the skinny 3" rim to push the wheel out some, but I dont really like them.
