Yet another header question.

Dondo These are my good pants..

    The patient:
    1953 M38a1 with Buick 3.8 liter engine

    The problem:
Needs new/better exhaust. Sounds like a tractor with crappy broken JC Whiney headers and homemade glass pack/exhaust pipes. Took it to custom exhaust guy and was instructed to fine some new headers for it and he would take it from there.

    Advice needed:
    Are these the right things?

I'm not opposed to having manifolds put back on if they would fit. Can this be done on an M38a1?

    Thanks for any suggestions.

If it has an early 231, the 225 headers will fit. I recommend the hedman ones. Price was about $10 more at FLAPS. As far as the stock manifolds, you need 2 (two) pass side ones, unless a saginaw conversion was done.

Thanks for the reply. What is "FLAPS"?
Also, a little off topic, but what all do I need for a saginaw conversion. I've read a little about how to do it, but not about what it's actually for.

  5. Headmans should work fine for you. Summit has them for about $139 I think. BUT, call Bob Supplee first. I'll bet he can beat their price, If he can't he'll tell you. Also his price INCLUDES Shipping. :D
