hood hinges

What color are hood higes on a stock 70 cj5, black or the color of the jeep.

 

Mine were color of the JEEP.

I think I read once that there were some discussion about differences in the windshield hinges, though; some folks got black top and bottom, some got black top and body colored bottom. Can't find where I read it now.

 

I was hoping to get a little more input, I know there are plenty of people out there own jeeps.

 

If it don't go, Chrome it! (mine are, no clue if stock, or even a factory option)

 

Those hinges are white on my Jeep, (white body)

Not original color Jeep though, they may have been painted over. :?:

 

I've never seen body color on a Jeep earlier than 1974.

 

Mine 71 hood hinges were the body color.
Pic was taken when jeep was only about 3 months old.

WYOMIKE, I'm not following you. Your text says body color, but your photo shows black hinges.

Not much input on this thread probably because it was debated in great detail a short while back. Since I took the time to post this much I'll say mine are black top and bottom and I don't think they were repainted. It's a 1973, and the rust pops show black paint through and through.

 

Hood hinges, not windshield.

 

My reading skills are fine. Heck, I'm probably reading at a 9th grade level by now. It's the processing between the ears that sometimes fails me.

My 1973 SuperJeep has body-colored hood hinges. Accuracy is supported by pics of another SuperJeep on showroom floor having body colored hinges.

Were you talking about the hood hinges or windshield? I've only seen body color hood hinges on those model years. I've only personally seen black/black on the windshield hinges for the ECJ5.

 

My 1967 has body color hood hinges, Red/Red.

 

I looked at a pile of ECJ hood hinges a few months ago. Not one was black. I also looked at hoods. Most of the hoods still had hinge parts attached. They were all body color.

 

X2... Not a '70, I know, but mine (Dec '70 MFG) still has the original paint... FWIW, I've never seen a factory CJ-5 with anything other than body colored hinges. The chrome/ stainless hinges available were/ are aftermarket...

 

Curiosity got the best of me, so I did some quick research. I checked in 2 books I have, The Story of Jeep by P R Foster, Jeep Illustrated Buyers Guide by Jim Allen, some old pictures of different Jeeps that I have, some old sales literature that I have, the pictures in the Vintage Literature section, and the pictures in the Vintage picture gallery. Every picture that I found that I knew was of a new CJ-5 Jeep, nowhere did I find a picture that did not have the hinges the same color as the body. The only ones that I found that were not body color were the chrome ones on the Mark IVs. I did find one factory picture of a CJ-6 with what looked like black hinges. Of course we all know what goofy things CJ-6s are R)
