    sammy Coca-Cola?

So I'm doing 12v on the Jeep and have decided that from the beginning, I know I need new bulbs (given I need them anyway) but, when mounting the alternator, I saw Willys Works and asked, they haven't made the brackets in some time and seems they, nor their contractors, have any interest in making any more, so I'm reduced to making/mounting my own.
    How?
I was thinking of making the cradle, the bolt holding the alternator would go through, and then bolt that onto a piece of angle iron, which would be welded to the mounting plate (much easier and stronger than bolting)

    TIA!

picture no good, but here is how i did it, #1 a pice of angle iron drilled to bolt to the orignal holes in the block and placed just high enough to clear the motor mount plate on the front of the motor,#2 flat plate long enough to extend over top of the motor mounting plate to get the pullys lined up#3 smaller pice of flat plate bent @ 90 deg on each end to mount the alt to, #4lots of head scratching tring to line every thing up true#5 weld it up and you got it, even used the orignal adjustment bar:D but i got it out of align just a little and the belt wears out fast:mad:

Cool, so you attached the angle iron to the generator bracket holes? Never thought about that even! Thanks! I'll have to make it work when she comes home tomorrow from getting her exhaust.
I should use rulers to make sure it's lined correctly right?

Also, I know it might not be suited for automotive use, but for V Belts on my lathe, I used this stuff:

Sammy, I used a universal bracket & a 5/8" pulley from these folks:

    http://www.alternatorparts.com/Alternator_brackets_1.htm

For the top bracket I ended up using an early-sixties type Chevy curved bracket, but turned 180* so that the long slotted hole lined up with a water pump bolt. I needed a short piece of 3/8" water pipe for a spacer at the water pump, but it worked out great!

    Bracket: PN A200
    Pulley: PN A203
    Upper bracket: PN A215

Shoot! Billy and John's won't work with my engine plate, the 2 holes that <should> be there have been removed and there's a rather large (3/4"?) hole in the plate with a bushing around it, which had a rubber bushing in.
    Steve- how did your's attach?
Right now Kaiser's seems most reasonable. It had an alternator on it when I bought it (3 wire delco 60 some amps, switched to 1 wire 80 some amps) but it wasn't a good install. It was lost and sloppy. The adjusting arm had been heated and bent around to meet the screw. I may go with Steve's style, or just cut out one from some 3/16 with the plasma...

The mount I used bolts to the stock 3/4" holes, and it uses rubber bushings just like the original did.
