the transfer case Dana 300 needs rebuilt, while driveing down the road it'll pop into 4 H... what is a reasonable price for this?

also my AMC 360 is sick... blue blows smoke on passenger side only...
    compression test is as follows
    cyl comp
    1 160
    2 160
    3 160
    4 170
    5 20 i know this aint right
    6 160
    7 150
    8 160
are these #'s okay... besides the 20 of course... and also anyone know of a good place to get rebuild kits for the AMC 360???

    thanks for the help folks...

those numbers look good to me (off the top of my head) with the exception of the 20...

Honestly, check PAW for rebuild kits; Summit also carries them. NAPA or your local chain may have a package deal as well...

Just a reminder, don't buy any kit until you know if and how much the block and/or crank will have to be machined.

Since it's a 360, what's your oil pressure? (hot idle and running). Do you want to patch it up or spend a lot of money? I'd do the wet test with your compression tester, or maybe the leakdown test to see if it's your rings or a burnt valve. One cylinder bad is more likely a burnt exhaust valve than worn out rings.

Also, I'd consider how many miles a year that you're going to put on the 360. If it's in a recreational Jeep that only sees 1000 miles a year, a complete rebuild doesn't seem cost-effective. Maybe look for a used 304/360, or patch it up? Oil pressure is the main liability on the AMC V8s, so a check of the OP is also a must before you make any plans (IMO).
