    M100 or Bantam?

Well, I saw this on a local online auction and couldn't pass it up. It's going up for sale as soon as I get it back to my house next week since I've already got my M416 pretty much finished. It was listed as a M100 with a serial number of 9689. Any thoughts? I only have these 2 pictures right now. I bought it sight unseen but was assured there is minimal rust. I can't wait to see what it looks like when I unbury it!

You could fab up some bantam style fenders, and nobody would know.

    :?

Bantams had round fenders like that - did you mean the squared off M416 fenders?

The round ones look better with ECJ's IMHO - matches the rear wheelwell of the Jeep.

    Nice find!

Hmmm, I think it would look good behind my CJ5:flag:

I was mistaken, I just thought that the difference was military versus civilian, not the fenders.

It sure looks like a military M100 to me. But it can't be a Bantam - they didn't manufacture M100s.

Wasn't Bantam the manufacturer of the BT3? And I think Willys was the manufactruer of the MBT? The BT3 is the trailer the civilian Bantam came from, with a few changes. The big one is the tailgate and another is the 3 tie downs per side for the tarp. I think that trailer with the 4 along the side is a WWII trailer. Here is a link to a trailer spotters guide. I'd say that trailer is either an MBT or BT3.

What puzzles me is the left side trailer light housing. It doesn't look like the military ones that I've seen in pictures of the M100. I've never seen one in the flesh, so I don't know for sure. I'll take bunches of pics this weekend when I pick it up!

The M100 is the later trailer for the M38 and M38A1. It would have had M series lights on it like those jeeps and not what would have been on a WWII trailer.

Not sure. Depends on it's condition and originality. I may keep it or sell it.
