What a great find. I'm glad it is being saved. Kudos to you, sir. Looking forward to watching the progress. And I LOVE that under-dash radio. It's awesome.

I took the engine to the rebuilder last week. There was a 12 month backlog on top of a couple of other recent projects I picked up ('52 M38A1 & '53 CJ-3B). Here are some random shots.

    Good to know!

Started it last week using the original distributor setup - two of the electronic ones I got from KaiserWillys were bad. The second worked for three or four starts but then decided to call it quits.

I'm working on trying to get it to idle now. I have to close the choke almost all the way and rev it to keep it running. I'm thinking there's a vacuum leak? Any other thoughts?

Having to choke it is usually a pretty good indication there's a vacuum leak somewhere.

Glad to hear that. I have always scratched my head trying to figure out why they painted the steering column and steering wheel body color on your model.

It was what passed for "fancy" in 1963. That and bits of chrome.

If you need any heater parts I have the original from my Tux Park III. It was in working condition when I took it out of the jeep during my restoration and is sitting in my shed. It’s in pretty darn good shape. I don’t want any money except for the shipping if you do decide you want it. I’m in Baton Rouge, LA.
