The sideview mirror (A-11850 - $42.50) on WillysJeepParts looks like the same HD version on Krage's (A2934K - $28.90), which I believe is the same one on Walck's (663642kho - $23.95). They all appear to be OD green.

Speaking from experience, do not buy the cheaper round mirror. The mount is incorrect and the tube is very thin and cheaply made. I will be purchasing the HD version from Walck's to replace the garbage mirror that I purchased from Krage's and painting it black. I would rather have the one piece arm, but $62.50 is a little steep. It does appear to be NOS though. It would be nice if someone could reproduce this.

On a side note, Phil, you might want to check out http://willysjeepparts.com/Mirrors.htm. They appear to have a 6" round replacement for you.

    StraightToPlaid Ludicrous speed!!!!

I bought a cheap replacement mirror (square and it works ok). I still had the bracket mounted on my jeep so I really just needed the arm and the mirror.

My only real complaint with the stupid thing is that it moves. If the jeep bounces it swings and the wind on the highway makes it push down enough that I can't use it.

Mine (Dec. 69) has the rectangular mirror. I don't know if it's original but it appears to be.

I went back and viewed factory ads and pamphlets. It seems that the round mirror was used thru 1967 and the rectangular mirrors were used 1968 and later for the US market.

My new '69 had a rectangular mirror from the factory.

I guess I got lucky, my aftermarket driver's side bolted right up. Had to drill the pass side. I also changed out the metric bolts for standard. thought the standard bolts/threads with the metric heads were just to goofy.

I don't believe passenger side mirrors are a requirement. Not for State or Feds any way. They are just an extra feature on cars now. And who came up with those stupid passenger side mirrors that don't tell you what the real size o what you are seeing is? Hate those things. I much prefer a regular mirror on that side. You can't use them to backup with, cause it distorts things, at least for me.
As for round mirrors and strong arms, you might check out the ones for motorcycles.
:coffee: My '60 came with one mounted to the windshield hinge, with a short arm and round head. And it vibrates at speed.

Hi, Glenn. My 1969 CJ5 also has a rectangular side mirror.

I got new mirror glass for it and was able to save it. Have you ever seen a source for a matching rectangular windshield mount passenger side mirror kit. My wife wants one on her side :) and I'll do just about anything to encourage her to ride with me in the Jeep, but I'd like it to match my original! Thanks.

For the passenger side mirror, the driver looks through the windshield at the mirror to see to the rear. Won't be much use to the passenger if it's installed and adjusted properly.

Thanks for the quick thoughts. I also have heard they are a bit tough to mount and align properly so the driver can see... but the way we use the Jeep most (without a top), I don't think the driver needs that third mirror.

Besides, I get "points" at home just for trying. And if I do ever finish sewing my top, I'm pretty sure she"ll surrender the side mirror alignment without a fight. :)

Edit: 11/7/2021: I found a passenger side matching rectangular side mirror and mounted it :)
