Rewire advice on turn signals

I am trying to diagnose the turn signals for a '59 CJ5 with all new wiring. (You should have seen the stuff that was in it when I got it!) Is there a "correct" color coding to the connections from the Sparton turn signal stick clamped to the steering column to the main harness and directional flasher? There are five wires with bullet or snap connectors coming from the turn signal stick and two wires with balls of broken off solder connections. The new harness identifies only 5 wires that connect with this:

    Brown - Brake Light
    Black - Right Front
    Yellow - Left Front
    Orange - Right Rear
    Blue - Left Rear

From the diagram in the "tech" section of this site, the other two appear to go to the directional flasher. Since this appears to be a copy of the diagram in the Service Manual, I have run out of resources to find which connection of the directional flasher goes where. The labels on my (broken) 550 flasher terminals are X, L, and P.

I am hoping that someone has already beat me to the trial and error method of finding the right way to connect all this spaghetti up.

Somebody here posted a diagram a few months ago. Maybe search "wiring diagram".

I think 65CJ5 has a diagram on his site with the colour codes & a very good description of how they work.

the L is for load. The P is the pilot lamp. normally the small lamp the lights up when the signals flash tolet know their on. Based on how mine is wired up, the X would be the hot wire.
