Could anyone send me a picture of what the original wheels would be for a 1970 CJ5? Are they just the plain rims I associate with the earlier model Jeeps? Like the one shown in the photo on the header of this Forum page? Is so, what size tires would have been original? Decided to forget the "fancy crap" and go all original with my Jeep. Also want to find the original type low back seats - mine now are high-back and I don't believe they belong in this jeep. Seems I can find both these items for 72 and up, but not for my year - 1970. Thanks guys.

    8.55 x 15 Goodyear Suburbanites were original on a '69.

Only pic I got here at work. Kinda rusty but you can see them. Ours did not come w/ hubcaps, I think some did. As you can see they are made w/ shoulders for hubcaps.:v6:

Thanks Glenn and Granny - that tells/shows me what I need. Think I found some wheels today at a military surplus place not too far from me. Guy is to let me know tomorrow what he wants for them.

    Mnemonic76,

FYI, your JEEP may be a Renegade, but those are not Renegade wheels. They're the stock type.

Booger, the above linked photos should be what you are looking for. They are what I have on my 74 model. They should be Kelsey Hayes 15 x 5 & 1/2 & you should find some KH stamping inside, IIRC.

Twiggs, just wondering how you can tell (except by width)? Renegade I's didn't come with alloy wheels like the Renegade II's, but rather a wider version of the steel wheels. Mnemonic76's Jeep is very interesting in that it is a very early '71 model, but is still labeled as a Renegade I, and maybe was originally equiped like a Renegade I.

By the way Mnemonic76, cool Jeep you have there! Have you done any work on it since the pictures were taken?

Little Purple CJs Renegade was like this as well, or was it an Early Ren II but Purple. Something was different about it.
