Does anyone know of a national chain that sells this? I would like to find a local supplier. If not national do they stock it at auto body supply stores?:v6:

Did a search and its sold by other folks on the web. I figured that meant it was available to vendors. Anybody used anything other than ERE or POR-15?:v6:

You'd have to go a long way finding a better product than ERE. Easy to prep and apply and it does NOT need to be painted over (unless you want to do so). ERE rattle cans are high solids content aerosols -- lots more in them than the typical bug bomb spray can. IMHO, POR-15 is simply not worth the premium in price and substantial additional prep prior to application. Clean up is a lot of fun with POR-15, too. Then you MUST paint over it since it isn't UV stable.

Ok. I'll wait for it to come before I start stripping the rust. One last question does it block sand well or will I have to primer over it before I color coat? (Using a one step urethane):v6:

I had good luck with RUST BULLET on the wife's '66 Mustang. Have not tried it on any of the jeeps yet. Might be worth a look see.

You might want to give MasterSeries from PM Industries a try:

I have used it and it does work well and really fills light pitting. Follow the instructions and you shouldn't have any problems although I did find that it will clog sandpaper unless wet sanded.

Believe them when they say it is difficult to remove - have some naptha handy!

Is the eastwood encapsulator all you would need to under coat or paint bumbers or is there a need to paint it afterwards with a black paint?

According to Eastwood there's no need to topcoat, its not affected by UV like POR-15 and it has a good gloss. My question remains, does it sand well or do I need to primer over it? I will be applying it to the hood, fenders, and a few other spots and then spraying a urethane topcoat.

Didn't think it was really intended for something like body panels. Its primary use is for frames and areas that are non cosmetic at least that was basically what I was told when I called about it. I never really tried to sand it, the stuff is fairly tuff, I wouldn't think it would sand well. Neither is por15 or most of the other coatings that are similar. The stuff is self leveling. I painted mine on my frame with a brush, can't see the brush marks at all, then I covered it with chassis black top coat paint.

According to the first link provided to the product it is a primer and their frame kit includes 1 quart of encapsulator and 2 quarts of chassis black.

A sticky in their forum also refers to a top coat:
    http://forum.eastwoodco.com/showthread.php?t=1431

They have a clear encapsulator also sold in their eBay store:

It appears this can be color tinted and offer tints. Again, they suggest a top coat for more protection.

Although they make some very strong claims about the superiority of this product to other products that are available I see little evidence.
