Should I CV rear shaft?

    When I do my T-98 swap it is going to move the Tcase back about 6 inches best I can tell. I have 2.5 lift and .75 shackle (which improves my pinion angle) . With the lift I figure I still need to shorten my drive shaft 4 inches or so. This is going to put my drive shaft at a better then 20 degree angle I think. I was thinking I should put a CV on the rear shaft to help reduce wear but I really hate to get off the cash. What do yall think?

    You can still do it on the cheap. Grab a front DS from a Wagoneer with Quadratrac, and get the yoke from the front of the t-case too. I got both for a total of $65. Had the shaft cut down to fit for $30. Total spent - under $100 for CV shaft.

    FWIW - this was in a '74 CJ5 with a T-18, Dana 20, and a 3.5" lift. You couldn't get over 30 MPH before the CV shaft. I added 8* shims to point the pinion at the t-case, and it is smooth to 65mph when I gave it back.

    I used the front shaft and yoke from an early bronco ( the yoke fits the 18 output splines) and shortened the shaft myself. Roughly $100.
