Wrong pic. That was my first attempt. This is what I did to get by last summer:

OK, this is what I came up with. The material is fishing rod foam. The diameter is slightly larger but will flatten out, Has a slight taper, which is ok since the hood is sloped. It is UV stable and soft.

I used 5/8" heater hose. Took some lube, and a lot of pulling/ pushing, but it's on, fairly flat, and looks pretty good.... Camera is at home, so no pic...

Hey guys, check out McMaster Carr, they have a huge selection of rubber hose and tubing with the exact dimensions and hardnesses listed, maybe you'll find what you need there.

You can get these brand new from some of the military jeep parts producers. Northstar, Walacks, maybe Krage. Try a search using M38A1. You'll have to repaint them as they are OD. $20+ for a set maybe. I forget exactly what the price is. Pete Debella, 4 wheel drive hardware too maybe.

I know where there are two NOS brackets with welting and rubber.. They are chrome though, for a "Park" model. Let me know if you are really interested. I am sure you can paint the metal.

Finally got around to working on drop pads. Used 1" black heat shrink on the leftover pieces from hood welt, then pop-riveted them on. I could have used the rivets supplied with the welt, but the pop-rivets with washers work better. :)
