I just picked upa 51 willys with a 134L and I would like to change it to a 4 speed. What 4 speed would be the easiest to swap in(t-98, t-18). The motor is freshly built and i would like to keep the original willys 4 banger. Please help me!!!!!!!!! Thanks

whih gear are you looking for, a lower first or a higher final? i don't know any four speed swaps ff the top of my head for the l-ead, but an oerdrive can be picked up to make it more street friendly. also, the axles "should" have a 5.38 if i remember correctly with that in first gear, low range, i remember mine barely moving anywhere with a litle bit of throttle applied...

The only near bolt-in would be a T-98 from a later CJ-5. This would still probably require driveshaft mods, as well as clutch linkage and crossmember mods too. The only difficult part is finding the T-98.

A T-98 would definitley require drive shafts mods if you tried to use it behind an L134 in the factory position. I measured a T-18 and my old T90, the T-18 is about 3" longer. T98 is the same length as a T18. Plus you have the bellhousing adapter which looks to be at least an inch thick in the picture JD7 linked to (nice pic).
