Clutch Problem

Been working on a 2A. New clutch disc and TO bearing. Pressure plate seemed ok so I used it.
Now the problem, clutch won't engage until the pedal is completely out. No amount of adjustment makes a difference. I'm pretty sure I know what's wrong but wanted to run it by the group.

Wrong throw out bearing? There are several different different thicknesses. Either that, or the new disc is thinner.

Could it be a weak pressure plate ? It's a stock set up L134/ T90. Were there different TO bearings? The disc seemed identical to the old one.
The manual shows the pressure plates has adjusting bolts, anyone ever adjusted one in the vehicle?

Did you put the return spring back on the T/O bearing?

There is a grease groove inside the T/O bearing and I am wondering if that is catching on the end of the input shaft bearing retainer.

Yes, put in a new one. Going to pull the inspection plate when I get a chance.

What make of cover plate assembly ?
IMHO if the driven disk is correct thickness .132-.138 then it almost certainly is the cover plate lever adjustment. That really should be done on a fixture so you can gauge it correctly.
.310 for Auburn or .305 for Rockford.

Not sure, it is 3 finger design. May try to adjust it in place give the bolts the same turns, if its possible thru the inspection plate.

Just took the inspection cover off. Noticed that the pressure plate doesn't touch the disc until the pedal is all the way out. Looks like it's possible to adjust the pressure plate.

Are you assembling parts on a 2a that you have never had together, or changing the clutch in an otherwise running vehicle? I have never touched the “adjustments” on a pressure plate. It seems the disk is too thin (wrong application?) or is the pressure plate from an unknown source, not correct for a 2a?

    This.
Pulled the transmission and clutch assembly. The clutch disc (new) measures .310. Got a new pressure plate coming.
Did figure out that the adjusting bolts on the pressure plate only affect finger height , not move the plate closer to the flywheel.

Question for y'all. Does anyone have a preferred brand for clutch kits? I put one in a few weeks ago, and it worked perfectly for a couple of weeks and now there's all sorts of chatter. I'm going to have to take it down again and I'm not gonna put the same thing in and expect a different result.

    I use LUK usually.

I’m still running original Auburn clutches (9-1/4” at present) on the 134’s with nos oem Borg Beck driven disk.

Chatter can be a symptom of oil on the disc. Any rear main leaks or trans front bearing leaks?
