I just did the Astro van power steering upgrade on my 67 CJ5. It fit awesome, clears everything and looks like it came that way from the factory. The main pro to the Astro conversion over the Saginaw box mounted way up by the bumper is no stress on the front frame horns, no interference with the front cross member under the radiator and no wandering do to frame flex. Highly recommend. I have pix I can text and templates of the mounting brackets I made if you need them. Sorry, I don't know how to upload pix on here.

Neat Jeep Ryan, I did the welding on a friends CJ5 with an Advance Adapters kit , I am going to install the same kit on mine once I get the new shop built. I liked how it went together and was very solid, I actually thought that the exhaust was more work than the steering, It would have been much easier with a lift. TJ :)

Hmm...I tried your suggestions and it dais upload a file. The only option I recognize was camera. I took a pic but it says too large of file to add. Idk...

You are limited to roughly a megabyte file size for images, if you use the site's online storage. Unless you go into your phone's settings, it will make too large a file with the built-in camera. Do you have a computer desktop to work from? There are lots of free picture resizing programs available; I like and use PIXresizer. From your desktop, you can drag and drop into your post.

it looks like the advanced adapters kit doesn’t come with a box or pump any recommendations? What about the Borgensen kit it comes with everything

Every power steering conversion is a bit different from Jeep to Jeep. There is no “ kit” that fits all of them universally. Fabrication skills are needed. The Saginaw steering boxes are the most popular and available new, rebuilt, or used from a salvage yard. Borgensen supplies nice steering shafts and u-joints, and some “universal” columns, but probably not specifically for CJs, let alone a South American built CJ. Your going to have to fabricate a steering pump mount for your unique engine, and may have to cut your original column at the firewall to extend the shaft up to the front steering box.

Ryan my CJ5 was converted to an Odd Fire 231 Buick V6, I am planning on doing a wrangler spring conversion at the same time along with a T-18 4 speed installation and new motor mounts and an overdrive. I have a steering box and a tilt column from my old S-10 Blazer that I plan on using , Its going to be a lot of work but I want to do it all at once to make sure all the modifications work together and correct some things that weren't done properly.
