Starting the build thread on my 71 CJ5. As I stated before this was my first vehicle back in 2005 and it hasn't seen any work since then, almost shameful how it sat in my parents back yard degrading. But no longer! So far I have the body stripped off front clip and fenders off. The T-case and transmission out and Trans disassembled in the living room. I am currently waiting on the trans rebuild kit from Transmission parts distributors.com they said the synchros were on temp backorder. My plan is to have the entire thing stripped down to frame and motor clean degrease and then blast and coat with POR15. Then I can start the reassembly and paint. New parts will include wiring harness, drum brake kits, body and suspension mounts, fuel tank and sending unit, DUI distributor, super top, battery, new radiator and tires. I think that will have it back on the road and then I can start adding the extras like a winch and gas can rack. Jeep [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Looks like a good start. I hope to be finishing up a 71 this summer and will post some pics.

More of the jeep mystery unravels. I always thought the Jeep sat a little higher than stock after more power washing and degreasing it was confirmed.
